#HughJackman says "wear #sunscreen" I say "whatever you say HUGH!!"
I had a amazing breakfast with The Moms at The Hunt and Fish Club in NYC, the breakfast was delicious, but meeting Hugh again was amazing. He is so dreamy, sweet, sexy, smells great tall and a family guy. When he talks I don't think there was a women in the room that was not smitten with him. I'm so happy he survived his bout with skin cancer. The sun seems so much stronger now then I remember it as a child. As Mom's know we all need to cover up but man this hit home when I met and had breakfast with Hugh Jackman, he spoke about his skin cancer. He wants to raise awareness of the growing skin cancer problem. Hugh Jackman spoke about his native Australia, the ozone layer is thinner than in most other locations and the rates of skin cancer are higher. Shockingly in the U.S.A. the numbers are still high, with a chance of one in five Americans getting skin cancer, and a one in two chance among people who never wear sunscreen, according to Jackman.
“No one should ever have skin cancer; it’s all about protection and spotting it early,” he said.
My heart sank while he spoke about his conquering skin cancer and and about ways in which the number of skin cancer cases can be lowered. Simply wearing sunscreen on a daily basis and reapplying throughout the day. His newly launched sunscreen Pure Sun Defense is geared towards children. http://www.puresundefense.com. The product line features Frozen®, The Avengers®, Spider-Man®, and Princesses®. Jackman hopes that having sunscreen with recognizable characters will make kids more excited about putting on lotion, similar to how toothpaste companies have made brushing teeth more appealing by including licensed characters. Jackman emphasized the importance of making applying suntan lotion a priority, even for people with darker skin tones and on cloudy days. I love how Pure Defense is geared toward children but what about us MOM's? I personally need sun screen and anti aging. I found the perfect product, that I have been using and starting to see the results. Proof of the sunscreen in this product screened me was sitting for hours in the hot sun at a Yankee Game, I was protected and beautifying with MD Complete Skincare I am addicted to MD Complete, it works! I was completely protected and my skin felt great!
www.mdcompleteskincare.com
Hugh Jackman had to go through multiple surgeries to remove the skin cancer He wants everyone to know dangers of the sun, nobody is safe!
I am fair skinned and love being outside, swimming, tennis, golfing going to a ballgame. I worry about skin damage and wrinkles. Lets face it, at my age after years of being in the sun without protection. I do have damage and now want to pretty it up. I tried and found this product that has sunscreen and also helps with the lines and lots of other aging issues! BUT ladies, if you have a tendency to breakout with sunscreens you wont have that problem with this brand, they already figured it outfor us. http://mdcompleteskincare.com/5023-skin-clearing-clear-skin-suncreen.html#.VWjLvpUznHg

13 MANNERS to review with our kids! A refresher never hurts anyone! Parents we need reminders too.
13 MANNERS to review with our kids! A refresher never hurts anyone! Parents we need reminders too.
1. Say "please" and "thank you." The two benchmarks of good manners, but sadly lacking today, despite the fact that teaching kids to say them is a simple process of reminding them.
2. Make eye contact. Personal interaction requires some level of engagement, and unless there are special circumstances, eye contact is the bare minimum.
3. Chew with their mouths closed. Nobody likes the site of chewed up food, and open mouths increase the chance of things falling out.
4. Don't interrupt. Unless it's an emergency (it usually isn't), kids need to learn patience and allow an interaction to continue.
5. Don't text at the table. Seemingly a no-brainer, I am constantly astounded by how much kids (and adults) check their phones during meals. I'm guilty, but trying not to do it!
6. Don't text during conversations. Nothing relays the message that you've got better things to do than checking your phone during a conversation.
7. Honor Privacy You don't have to read someone's diary to invade her privacy. In a world of reality TV and 24/7 social media, it's challenging to maintain a sense of privacy.
-
Knock on the door before entering a room.
-
Do not eavesdrop on others' conversations.
-
Don't spread gossip and rumors.
-
Don't share and forward the personal information (or photos) of others.
-
Do put an end to forwards that land in your lap. It stops here.
8. Learn to say "excuse me." Always appropriate when interrupting a situation or when releasing "gas."
9. Have integrity "Honesty and integrity are at the very foundation of one's character," says Sena. Our children must learn how powerful their words are, and how using them wisely is at the core of good manners.
-
Tell the truth. "It's not always easier to tell the truth, but it's always better in the long run," says Nickell. "Our children should know that lying won't get them anywhere, and that honesty really is the best policy."
-
Stick to your word. "Teach the importance of following through and living by your word," says Nickell. "It's an essential part of life, and it's a lesson children can begin to learn at a young age." If you say you're going to do something, stick to it.
10.Respect your elders "Speak to adults respectfully and look them in the eye when they are speaking to you," says Liz Taylor, an etiquette consultant in Minneapolis. Refer to them as Mr. or Mrs. unless they tell you otherwise. (If you don't know their names, refer to them as sir or ma'am.) Politely offer them your seat or let them go before you (through a door, in a buffet line, or anywhere).
11. Lose gracefully. If you do your best, then it doesn't matter whether you win or lose. We can't win every game, so when you lose, be sure to thank your opponent, shake hands and say, "Well done!" or "Good job." No sore losers, please.
-
Maintain a positive attitude. Sports and games should emphasize building each other up, taking turns, playing as a team, working hard and striving to improve. By focusing on these positives, there will be fewer bad manners when there is a loss.
12. Acknowledge friends and acquaintances. A simple nod or smile is all it takes, versus ignoring them completely.
13. Eat your food, with mouth closed, just another reminder!
No Girl Scout Cookies this year, taking a break, from the battle field and giving my peeps a break!
I am making a donation to my daughters Girl Scout troop and calling it a day! The troop will gets more money that way!
|
I am taking a break this year and not because the Samoas aren’t called Samoas anymore (they’re now Caramel deLites), and I certainly do not have anything against the Girls Scout organization because we are a participants. I am just taking a break and here’s why.
When parents sell the cookies for their kids, I honestly feel as an entrepreneur that the kids lose the valuable lesson of selling and running a cookie business. I have bought over 50 boxes in the past just so my daughter can get the badge and we support the troop. We also have gone door to door and sold. I see people haranguing, friends family and co-workers to buy. Maybe they should just ask for a donation for the troop. I know being a Girl Scout that that every troop likes selling a lot of cookies, but the reality in Westchester according to The Heart of the Hudson, for every $4.00 box sold only .70 goes to the troop. This is one reason why I am going to forgo selling, forgo walking around door to door with my daughter and just make a donation to the troop. The troop will then have more money and I will have less responsibility. We have already learned cookie selling skills from participating over the past five years selling for The Girl Scouts of America.
I know she wont get her 100 cookie badge or the applause from the troop but I do think this is what works for us this year. Friends and family, will have no problem finding the cookies in this over saturated GS cookie sale war zone. I love the Girl Scouts, but its business they are not going to turn down the sales, but I think they agree according to my research.
When parents sell for the girls:“It’s a constant source of conversation,” said Michelle Tompkins, manager of media relations for Girl Scouts of the USA. “We love that the parents want to help their kids. There’s no malintent, but it is selling the kids a little short, not letting them learn the skills they want to teach.”goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and ethics, according to the Girl Scout cookies website
In NYC offices some buildings are becoming a cookie war zone. One woman told me she has to buy from four different women because they are her friends and she bought from them last year. She said "I feel obligated, even though I do not want the cookies." Another father said the first thing his daughter says when he walks in the door is "HOW MANY DID YOU SELL DAD?". I think that says it all.
I am an entrepreneur and do have a website for my business G2 Organics, but I do not think it's smart to set one up for cookie sales. There is also the threat of hackers who often view non-profit organizations as prime targets, said Akli Adjaoute, chief executive of the San Francisco-based security firm Brighterion. Compared to banks and mega-retailers — whose systems have been compromised in recent years — criminals assume that non-profits "have no resources and no heavy investment on security," Adjaoute said. "And they're right." Im a mother and always a Girl Scout but this year, my gut tells me save the calories and make a donation.
Grown-up Mean Girls: Dealing with Mom Bullies By Allison Ford
Grown-up Mean Girls: Dealing with Mom Bullies
Anyone who says that childishness is solely the province of children has obviously never spent much time in modern parenting circles. It’s a sad fact of life that some people never grow out of being bullies—they just get older, meaner, and richer (although no less likely to steal your lunch money).
Being a mom these days is hard; there’s a pressure to be perfect that many previous generations of parents simply never felt. Modern moms are expected to nurture their brilliant little organic humanitarians with esoteric taste in music, and in the quest for modern parenting’s brass ring—a scholarship to Yale or a MacArthur genius grant—many moms end up so desperate to prove what a great job they’re doing that they end up making other moms feel like they’re failing.
Whether it’s the president of the PTA, a member of your playgroup, or even the parent of the kids next door, everyone knows women (and men) who make a point of belittling and berating other parents. Gone are the days when silly disagreements could be fought out at the bike rack after school, but there are still ways to deal with sanctimonious mothers who think they always know best.
The Green Meanie
This mom purées her own baby food from organic veggies she grows herself. She uses cloth diapers, dye-free bamboo fabric, cruelty-free lotions, and PBA-free plasticware, and she may even eschew vaccines in order to prevent her precious angel from ever coming into contact with a single chemical. All that effort may make her feel superior to the terrible monsters who let their children play with traditional toys instead of lead-free wooden blocks, but don’t forget that organic living is just a lifestyle choice, not a surefire path to healthier, happier, or smarter kids. So just relax about buying your baby shampoo at Wal-Mart instead of Whole Foods. When confronted by a mom who can’t fathom that not everyone has time to farm her own mangoes for hand-churned sorbet, ask her whether the landfill space saved by using cloth diapers really mitigates the carbon footprint of the delivery drivers and industrial machines her diaper service uses.
The Braniac Maniac
“You haven’t signed up your infant for preschool-entrance test prep yet?” wonders this mother of an overachiever. “Howwill he get into a good college if you don’t start now?” The parents of any child who’s simply playing or having fun must surely be unfit, because for this mom it’s all about enrichment, whether it’s Baby Einstein videos, Omega-3-enriched brain foods, electrolyte-enhanced water, SAT prep, summer violin camp, or extracurricular activities that are sure to make Baby smarter and look great on a college application. Well, Baby Einstein videos have been proven a scam, as have most “enrichment” aids for young children. Test prep can be valuable for high schoolers looking to go to a competitive college, but up until then, the experiences of goofing off, playing, and just being a kid are invaluable. Plus, allowing a child to be a child can save parents money on therapy costs later.
The Food Freak
Her child brings his own snacks when he comes to play. She crusades against birthday cake at school, and not only does she never allow her child to indulge in sweets, soda, candy, white flour, or any other food foe du jour, she also tries to make sure that yours doesn’t, either. Childhood obesity is a serious concern, and her intentions to keep kids healthy and slim may be noble, but the next time she asks you how you could ever allow your child to enjoy a Popsicle on a hot summer day, simply say, “You know, it’s impossible to keep kids away from junk food forever. Rather than make it seem more appealing by restricting it, we prefer to teach our child moderation. Don’t you think that’s more realistic?”
The Lactivist
Not breastfeeding your child is akin to child abuse, according to this know-it-all mom, who constantly extols the supposed benefits of breastfeeding: Calmer tummies! Fewer colds! Higher IQs! Every mother and every child is different, and whether or not to breastfeed remains a decidedly personal choice. After all, it’s not as if you can pick out the bottle-fed kids on the playground by their sickly pallor or lack of vitality. There are perfectly legitimate medical and personal reasons not to breastfeed, so any time a lactivist starts in on a lecture about the evils of the bottle, simply say, “I don’t feel comfortable discussing my personal medical history with you, but my doctor and I have decided that breastfeeding is not for me. Formula is perfectly well equipped to meet an infant’s nutritional needs, and I also rather enjoy not having cracked or bleeding nipples.”
The PTA Pain
She’s the chair of every school committee, she’s the third-grade room mother, and she’s first in line to volunteer to sit in the dunk tank at the school carnival. Any school is lucky to have a mom who is so dedicated, but some of these busy-bee mothers have a way of making anyone who gives any less than they do feel like a delinquent parent. The next time you’re badgered into chaperoning a field trip or working a bake sale against your will, have a private conversation with the PTAPain, reminding her that while other parents are grateful for her dedication, not everyone’s schedule or budget allows for such an outlay of time and money. If the harassment doesn’t stop, don’t regret limiting the activities you participate in or declining future requests for volunteers. After all, your child’s education isn’t tied to the number of hours of unpaid labor you perform.
Unfortunately, there’s no suppressing the human instinct to tell others what to do and how they could do it better. Parenting is no different, and with every mom and dad struggling to get it right, decisions about childcare philosophies are rife with opportunities for disagreement and resentment. Why parenting inspires such heated battles is the subject of endless debate. Some people are likely insecure about their choices and looking for validation; other people are desperate to prove that their way of parenting is the “right way.” And inevitably, just like in every other area of life, some people are just jerks.
I would like to thank my guest blogger Allison Ford, you are right on MaMa! 🙂
More business are using this METHOD, reduce stress, feel happier and productive $$$!
Meditation rooms to boardrooms! Something has got to change, the Biggest problem facing my clients and people today is stress and the feeling that they are never going to catch up, always a email or text to answer or a fire to put out, or worried somebody stepping on their turf. In order to manage many high level businesses/CEO's are seeking alternative ways to manage the unbalance in their lives, they want to reduce stress, feel happier without taking medication, without seeing a "shrink". The feeling of being on call all the time and under constant attack does impacts your health and effectiveness in doing your job. Business are helping employees taking action implementing new methods in the workplace helping lower sick days and increasing wellness and productivity. The Corso Methods works and people are seeing and seeing the great results. More and more businesses professionals are coming to me, for help. People want to feel better and don't want to take medication, they don't want to have to drink alcohol to relax. People want to feel good about themselves and work in a positive space. Its hard in the over stimulated world we live in to find peace, that is why I teach people to find it in their bodies. I see clients in NYC and at Nicholas Day Spa and Salon | Pelham NY 914 • 738 • 3838nicholasdayspa.com/
I have developed a method that can help restore and align the physical and emotional balance through Chakras. I have over 20 years of experience with Reiki and energy healing, Chakras and card reading and helping people move to a higher level. When your in balance you’re stronger and more resilient to stress and better at your job. The better you feel, the better equipped you’will be to manage work, people and stress without becoming overwhelmed, the more successful you will feel and it will reflect in your performance. When you feel happier and at peace the energy is picked up by people you work with. When the energy is good in a office productivity goes up. When productivity is up, people make more money, feel more in control of their lives and everyone benefits. Chakras are energy centers, or portals in the human energy field. Located along the central channel of the body from the base of the spine to the top of the head, they are conceived of as whirling, wheel-like vortices through which universal/cosmic energy flows into and out of a person. Some of my clients even have salt lamps on their desk to absorb negative energy. I often distribute crystals that are kept in the office or carried in a brief case. "what the hell I keep one in my bra". Can't hurt will only help says one of my multi million dollar real estate clients.
Many business people on are feeling sad and depressed and overwhelmed because the energy flow is off, even looking down at a computer and phone results in slumped over with your neck and shoulders curved forward and head looking down. Its just not a natural position and manifests in blocked energy flow. Resulting in headaches, eye strain and loss of creativity and being open to new ideas. Many people are stuck, stuck because the energy is not flowing in their bodies, stuck because they need to get out of the mind and in the body. I help shift the energy, its as simple as that.
The relationship between our mind and body runs both ways, meaning our mind influences the way our body reacts, but the form of our body also triggers our mind.
Taking care of yourself doesn't’ require a total lifestyle overhaul, it can start small and then organically it will naturally become bigger. When you feel good you look good and when you look good you feel good. Even small things can lift your mood, increase your energy, and make you feel like you’re back in the driver’s seat. Take things one step at a time, and as you make more positive lifestyle choices, you’you will soon notice a reduction in your stress levels, both at home and at work. For example salt lamps are even kept on your desk at work too,Himalayan Salt Lamp: Glass Bowl Lamp with Salt CrystalsHimalayan Salt Lamp: Glass Bowl Lamp with Salt Crystals. As Himalayan salt lamp warms up with the light bulb it emits negative ions into the air. This process may help relieve symptoms of Asthma, Sinusitis and common allergies, not to mention helps absorb co-workers negitive energy.

Molly Sims, Unleash the Super Model in YOU! The Everyday Supermodel: My Beauty, Fashion, and Wellness Secrets Made Simple
Molly Sims was so real and beautiful at a lunch I attended and she hosted by The Mom's in New York City at Artistanal, 2 Park Ave.Artisanal Fromagerie Bistro | New York French Restaurant
She is expecting her second child, and first girl in only two months. Baby girl will join brother Brooks Allan Stuber and daddy, Scott Stuber. She was signing and promoting her new book The Everyday Supermodel: My Beauty, Fashion, and Wellness Secrets Made Simple
Molly wore her hair a high ponytail, it was her real hair, I did not see any clips, LOL. My hair on the otherhand needed a little somethin, I did do beach waves but my hat killed it walking up Park Ave to Artistanal. Molly accessorized with wore a chunky statement necklace that highlighted her gorgeous face.
The ex-model and yoga enthusiast looked amazing in a bright red swing dress by Lisa Perry. Ms Perry's designs frequently nod back to the mod 60s and groovy 70s. This center-seamed swing dress. I swear I almost wore the same (I SWEAR!!) dress, its not a maternity dress.
Molly, while 5 feet, 10 inches, wore classic pumps in black. They showed off her yoga legs, no stockings in winter, and her legs looked great, good motivation looking at her. I was surrounded by talent, the movie producer and filmmaker of 40 Weeks was also dinning with us, I have to watch this movie sounds fasinating, again the name is 40 Weeks, the Pregnancy Documentary Big Belli, MomLifeTV believes in the power of women and the strength of Mom. This 2013 Webby Award Honoree promotes 40 Weeks.
I read Molly's book and its perfect, she shares, she tells all the modeling secrets. Being a former model, I love this book its a reminder of taking care of yourself, never giving up and how to cover the flaws. Its perfection! I always use two BB creams in different shades, she does the same!! Talking about sharing, I met the founders of Moxy and Main. My meeting Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and Parenting
My meeting Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and Parenting Abby Lee Miller, star of Dance Mom's is the ultimate tiger mom with heart and insight on how to employ tough-love to inspire children to achieve success. “If you want to help your kid reach the top, you can find no better coach than Abby Lee Miller. Some may criticize her methods, but no one argues with her results. Her kids excel, (at what price) her teams win and her alumni go on to Broadway careers,” reads the publisher’s description about her new book.
I was curious to meet Abby Lee too. After hearing the good the bad and the ugly about Abby Lee from my daughter and her friends. I wanted to meet AbbyLee in person, to see what she was really like. We purchased tickets $75.00 each, which includes meet and greet, T-Shirt, introduction and photo. The pictures tell the story, but I will tell you my personnel read on Abby LeeMiller. She looked fabulous, slimmed down, weight loss was well over 50 lbs. She was tanned and very friendly and a beautiful smile. We chatted a bit about parenting and kids. I liked her style, very direct, truthful and upfront. My daughter had her picture with Maddie Ziegler and Mackenzie Ziegler the girls, "put her feet together" she instructed . I think she has the knowledge, experience and the drive to push her "BRAND" to a new frontier.
HOWEVER as a mother I do have a problem with depersonalization of girls being depicted or treated as sexual objects. I was gobslapped watching the video of Maddie Ziegler in a cage. I know Abby Lee did not choreograph but still, uncomfortable to watch.
I am all for the arts and creativity, but I do not like inappropriate imageries imposed on girls through marketing or products directed at them that encourages them to act in adult sexual ways. Why, after the video "Elastic Heart" starring Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler, choreographed by Ryan Heffington. As a mother I am mad! After the video was made & launched then everyone saw the light and realized is was wrong? They knew exactly what they were doing when making this video. The girls I know who love Dance Moms said this video was "uncomfortable to watch, and who is the old guy?" The public has spoken, the kids like the dances and AbbyLee yelling at the mothers, the girls who watch do not want to see the sexualization of " Dance Moms" girls.
Check outs The hardcover edition of “Everything I Learned about Life, I Learned in Dance Class” is available for pre-order, retailing for $22.99 ($12.99 for eBook) on HarperCollins.com.
