Ballet Muscle exercises formulated and demonstrated by Peter Cirolia
Exercises can be conducted anywhere, holding onto anything that will help you stabilize yourself. Example a barre, wall, chair, cable machine etc.

Exercise#1 Plie straighten 
This is how to conduct: Hold onto barre with your left hand while the right hand is held straight out to the side. Stand with heels together in a duck position and only turn your feet out as far as your hips naturally allow you. Hold your pelvis in a neural pelvic tilt position elongating the hip flexors. Then bend the knees pressing the heals down to floor keeping the thighs aligned over the feet. Then return to straight leg duck position. Do 10 reps, 2 sets

Exercise #2 Plie Releve 
This is how to conduct: Hold the barre with the left hand while the right hand is held straight out to the side. Start with the heals touching in the duck position holding a neutral pelvic tilt position. Always keeping the hips and pecs aligned. Then bend your knees pressing the heels down to the floor with your thighs aligned over your feet. This is called a plie position. From this position raise the heels up as high as you can elongating the legs to a straight position. As you do this be sure to squeeze your thighs and keep the heels facing each other the entire time as your thighs are held turned out in opposite directions. Then as you lower down bend your knees and come back to the starting plie position. 10 reps, 2 sets

Exercise #3 Tondu lift
This is how to conduct: Hold the barre with the left hand and the right arm held straight out to the side. Start with the heels together in the duck position holding a neutral pelvic tilt position. Always keeping the pecs and hips aligned straight across when you look in the mirror. Point your right leg and foot in front of you in the center of your body. Hold the left leg completely straight with your body weight over the ball of the left foot. Make sure to keep the right leg externally rotated toward the outside of the body and the foot pointed throughout exercise. Then lift your right leg 45 degrees and lower back down to the floor. Make sure to always lift from underneath your leg ( use the hamstring muscles, never grip with the quadriceps.) Should be like a lever is lifting your leg up. 10 reps Repeat this to the side and back. 
When done all three positions with the right leg, turn around and hold on with the right hand and do the left leg in all three positions. 10 reps in each position.

Exercise #4 Tondu lift and turn leg in/out
This is how to conduct exercise: Holding the barre with the left hand and the right arm extended straight out to the side. Start with heals together in the duck position holding your pelvis in a neutral pelvic tilt position. Make sure the Pecs and hips are aligned straight across. Point your right leg and foot in front of you in the center of your body maintaining external rotation. The left leg should be completely straight with your body weight over the ball of the left foot. Then lift the right leg with your foot pointed (using the hamstrings) to a 45 degree level and hold. Then internally rotate your right leg toward the inside of your body and then externally rotate it back toward the outside of your body. 10 reps  Repeat to the side and back of you.
When done all three positions with the right leg turn around hold barre with the right hand and repeat with the left leg.

Grown-up Mean Girls: Dealing with Mom Bullies 

Anyone who says that childishness is solely the province of children has obviously never spent much time in modern parenting circles. It’s a sad fact of life that some people never grow out of being bullies—they just get older, meaner, and richer (although no less likely to steal your lunch money).

Being a mom these days is hard; there’s a pressure to be perfect that many previous generations of parents simply never felt. Modern moms are expected to nurture their brilliant little organic humanitarians with esoteric taste in music, and in the quest for modern parenting’s brass ring—a scholarship to Yale or a MacArthur genius grant—many moms end up so desperate to prove what a great job they’re doing that they end up making other moms feel like they’re failing.

 

Whether it’s the president of the PTA, a member of your playgroup, or even the parent of the kids next door, everyone knows women (and men) who make a point of belittling and berating other parents. Gone are the days when silly disagreements could be fought out at the bike rack after school, but there are still ways to deal with sanctimonious mothers who think they always know best.

 

The Green Meanie

This mom purées her own baby food from organic veggies she grows herself. She uses cloth diapers, dye-free bamboo fabric, cruelty-free lotions, and PBA-free plasticware, and she may even eschew vaccines in order to prevent her precious angel from ever coming into contact with a single chemical. All that effort may make her feel superior to the terrible monsters who let their children play with traditional toys instead of lead-free wooden blocks, but don’t forget that organic living is just a lifestyle choice, not a surefire path to healthier, happier, or smarter kids. So just relax about buying your baby shampoo at Wal-Mart instead of Whole Foods. When confronted by a mom who can’t fathom that not everyone has time to farm her own mangoes for hand-churned sorbet, ask her whether the landfill space saved by using cloth diapers really mitigates the carbon footprint of the delivery drivers and industrial machines her diaper service uses.

 

The Braniac Maniac

“You haven’t signed up your infant for preschool-entrance test prep yet?” wonders this mother of an overachiever. “Howwill he get into a good college if you don’t start now?” The parents of any child who’s simply playing or having fun must surely be unfit, because for this mom it’s all about enrichment, whether it’s Baby Einstein videos, Omega-3-enriched brain foods, electrolyte-enhanced water, SAT prep, summer violin camp, or extracurricular activities that are sure to make Baby smarter and look great on a college application. Well, Baby Einstein videos have been proven a scam, as have most “enrichment” aids for young children. Test prep can be valuable for high schoolers looking to go to a competitive college, but up until then, the experiences of goofing off, playing, and just being a kid are invaluable. Plus, allowing a child to be a child can save parents money on therapy costs later.

 

The Food Freak

Her child brings his own snacks when he comes to play. She crusades against birthday cake at school, and not only does she never allow her child to indulge in sweets, soda, candy, white flour, or any other food foe du jour, she also tries to make sure that yours doesn’t, either. Childhood obesity is a serious concern, and her intentions to keep kids healthy and slim may be noble, but the next time she asks you how you could ever allow your child to enjoy a Popsicle on a hot summer day, simply say, “You know, it’s impossible to keep kids away from junk food forever. Rather than make it seem more appealing by restricting it, we prefer to teach our child moderation. Don’t you think that’s more realistic?”

 

The Lactivist

Not breastfeeding your child is akin to child abuse, according to this know-it-all mom, who constantly extols the supposed benefits of breastfeeding: Calmer tummies! Fewer colds! Higher IQs! Every mother and every child is different, and whether or not to breastfeed remains a decidedly personal choice. After all, it’s not as if you can pick out the bottle-fed kids on the playground by their sickly pallor or lack of vitality. There are perfectly legitimate medical and personal reasons not to breastfeed, so any time a lactivist starts in on a lecture about the evils of the bottle, simply say, “I don’t feel comfortable discussing my personal medical history with you, but my doctor and I have decided that breastfeeding is not for me. Formula is perfectly well equipped to meet an infant’s nutritional needs, and I also rather enjoy not having cracked or bleeding nipples.”

 

The PTA Pain

She’s the chair of every school committee, she’s the third-grade room mother, and she’s first in line to volunteer to sit in the dunk tank at the school carnival. Any school is lucky to have a mom who is so dedicated, but some of these busy-bee mothers have a way of making anyone who gives any less than they do feel like a delinquent parent. The next time you’re badgered into chaperoning a field trip or working a bake sale against your will, have a private conversation with the PTAPain, reminding her that while other parents are grateful for her dedication, not everyone’s schedule or budget allows for such an outlay of time and money. If the harassment doesn’t stop, don’t regret limiting the activities you participate in or declining future requests for volunteers. After all, your child’s education isn’t tied to the number of hours of unpaid labor you perform.

 

Unfortunately, there’s no suppressing the human instinct to tell others what to do and how they could do it better. Parenting is no different, and with every mom and dad struggling to get it right, decisions about childcare philosophies are rife with opportunities for disagreement and resentment. Why parenting inspires such heated battles is the subject of endless debate. Some people are likely insecure about their choices and looking for validation; other people are desperate to prove that their way of parenting is the “right way.” And inevitably, just like in every other area of life, some people are just jerks.

Andrew Wiggins and Rudy Gobert led the World squad to an impressive win over Team USA. In the Celebrity Game, the West beat the East in what was fun, highlighted by Mo'ne Davis' sweet spin move and yet another Kevin Hart MVP performance, he did announce his retirement from basketball. "I can't do no more 4 times MVP"  He was very impressive on the court, that little guy can play. Zipping around the knee caps of the big guys.IMG_8371IMG_8373

The West team was coached by ESPN personality Mike Golic and Spike Lee, who was wearing a blue hat with orange trim in honor of his New York Knicks. Lee directed a commercial that starred Davis. Carmelo Anthony along with ESPN personality Mike Greenberg coached the East team.Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

The game also included actors Anthony Anderson, Common, Nick Cannon, Sarah Silverman, Ansel Elgort, Chadwick Boseman, Jesse Williams and Michael Rapaport, who grew up in New York City. Williams, who stars on Grey's Anatomy, injured his knee with 5 minutes left in the game and was helped off the court and back to the locker room. Ouch, I felt so bad for him he looked like he was in a lot of pain.

Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan also played as did singer Win Butler of Arcade Fire.NBA Hall of Famer and New York native Chris Mullin played as did former New York Knicks' star Allan Houston. Current WNBA players Diggins, Tina Charles and Shoni Schimmel represented the league. Schimmel, who was the MVP of the WNBA All-Star game this past year, tricked Silverman — who was on the other team, to give her the ball under the basket which the Atlanta Dream star converted for a layup.

I like to share, when I have a good thing. I do love to talk about diets, and look in peoples shopping carts, just to see, what what are they eating?? I've seen foods that are screaming, "IM PINK and Foamy, I'm loaded with chemicals" and people buy and feed to there kids. ‘Health and Wellness’ is becoming  a trillion-dollar global industry. ‘Obesity is expensive in terms of health-care costs,’ it said before adding, with a consultant chuckle, ‘dealing with it is also a big, fat market.’ Obviously, if animals are getting heavier along with us, it can’t just be that they’re eating more MUFFINS and Candy bars and driving to work most days. On the contrary, the trend suggests some widely shared cause, beyond the self control of individuals, which is contributing to obesity across many species.

1. DON'T fall for the label that says "HEALTHY" Use  your common sense, just because it's labeled "healthy" it still could contains  food coloring etc. AVOID heavely packaged food!

2. NO Soda, just water, ice tea, sparking water or Vodka or Wine ( all in moderation)

One recent model estimated is that eating a mere 30 calories a day more than you use is enough to lead to serious weight gain. Given what each person consumes in a day (1,500 to 2,000 calories in poorer nations; 2,500 to 4,000 in wealthy ones), 30 calories is a trivial amount: by my calculations, that’s just two or three peanut M&Ms, after my Halloween calculations as I licked the butter fingers. If eliminating that little from the daily diet were enough to prevent weight gain, then why are we getting fatter and fatter, everyone of every economic level is always talking weight gain or loss. Why is something so primal has become so out of wacky?

3.Get Sleep, you consume more calories when tired, people consume 300 more calories when over tired. (like me now!!)

4. Hang out with people who watch what they eat..bad habits do rub off.


 BUT I do believe stress  can makes you eat,‘empty calories’ ‘a calorie is a calorie is a calorie’ if you overeat it will add fat to your frame. The badness of a ‘bad’ food such as a processed potato chip is that it makes calorie intake easier than it would be with broccoli or an apple. I have just lost 7 lbs and did not hit the gym once. It was a experiment I wanted to try, and it worked. Let me share my tips and why they worked.

5.Turn the thermostat down, feel a little cooler you will burn more calories (just a couple degrees lower, and be conscience)

Yet a number of researchers have come to believe, the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, that ‘all calories are not equal’. The problem with diets that are heavy in meat, fat or sugar is not solely that they pack a lot of calories into food; it is that they alter the biochemistry of fat storage and fat expenditure, tilting the body’s system in favor of fat storage. example, that sugar, trans-fats and alcohol have all been linked to changes in ‘insulin signaling’, which affects how the body processes carbohydrates. You know how some people say. "I look at cheese cake and gain weight". I do believe that the way our body metabolizes is also a  direct link to weight gain. I also think that if your body has to many chemicals in it the elimination of fat is harder.

6. NO heavy creams or makeup, the less products used the better, reduces chemical build up, and easier elimination.

More importantly, ‘things that alter the body’s fat metabolism’ is a much wider category than food. Sleeplessness and stress, for instance, have been linked to disturbances in the effects of leptin, the hormone that tells the brain that the body has had enough to eat. Yes some people just never feel full. For example at "tailgate parties", when everyone just keeps eating and eating all day…I know its fun, but I often wonder if some people ever get that full feeling??

In my research. working with chemist and Doctor's when creating and producing cosmetics and beauty products for my business G2 Organics, (picture below in magazine) I concluded that industrial chemicals have all entered our bodies, for example wax and toxins from creams that are not eliminated. When I personally  did my complete organic, no chemicals, no processed food detox, the weight fell off. It was work, but I did feel great and loved when people said you look "too thin", I LOVED IT!!! Reality is that I could not keep up with just eating 100% clean, but the self education  still effect my food and product I use.

Her suspects include heavy metals in the food supply, chemicals in sunscreens, cleaning products, detergents, cosmetics and the fire retardants that infuse bedclothes and pajamas. I agree with this 100%.

Chemicals and metals might promote obesity in the short term by altering the way that energy is made and stored within cells, or by changing the signals in the fat-storage process so that the body makes more fat cells, or larger fat cells. They could also affect the hormones that spur or tamp down the appetite. In other words, chemicals ingested on Tuesday might promote more fat retention on Wednesday. 

Just to double down on the complexity of the question, a number of researchers also think that industrial compounds might be affecting these signals. For example, Bruce Blumberg, professor of developmental and cell biology at the University of California, Irvine, has found that pregnant mice exposed to organotins (tin-based chemical compounds that are used in a wide variety of industries) will have heavier offspring than mice in the same lab who were not so exposed. In other words, the chemicals might be changing the signal that the developing fetus uses to set its metabolism. More disturbingly, there is evidence that this ‘fetal programming’ could last more than one generation.A good predictor of your birth weight, for instance, is your mother’s weight at her birth

 There is a ‘thermoneutral zone’ in which a human body can maintain its normal internal temperature without expending energy. Outside this zone, when it’s hot enough to make you sweat or cold enough to make you shiver, the body has to expend energy to maintain homeostasis. Temperatures above and below the neutral zone have been shown to cause both humans and animals to burn fat, and hotter conditions also have an indirect effect: they make people eat less. A restaurant on a warm day whose air conditioning breaks down will see a sharp decline in sales (yes, someone did a study). Perhaps we are getting fatter in part because our heaters and air conditioners are keeping us in the thermoneutral zoneWe are increasingly understanding that attributing obesity to personal responsibility is very simplistic I believe we are surrounded by hidden forces that are contributing to the weight gain, by the choices we make.

 

The chemicals, the stress, the air conditioning, the elevators-instead-of-stairs, foods and beverages that are ‘metabolic disturbers’this is what's making us fat.

But that’s not the worst of it. The human body’s response to its nutrition can last a lifetime, and even be passed on to the next generation. If you or your parents – or their parents – were undernourished, you’re more likely to become obese in a food-rich environment. Obese people, when they have children, pass on changes in metabolism that can predispose the next generation to obesity as well. Like the children of underfed people, the children of the overfed have their metabolism set in ways that tend to promote obesity. This means that a past of under nutrition, combined with a present of over nutrition, is an obesity trap.  I think we all know this, news stories, magazines, books. But I do know just eat a few bites less everyday, and it will add up to lost lbs. Its all about being mindful and making just a few changes.

7. Eat a few bites less at every meal, leave a little food on the plate!! leave a spoonful less thats 30 calories each meal x 3 = 90 saved calories a day.smiley

This is a example of intention when cooking.Engagement Chicken, every person should know, the recipe that started it all. And once you've made it, you'll know why. My meeting Dance Moms, Abby Lee Miller and Parenting

My meeting  Dance Moms,  Abby Lee Miller and Parenting IMG_7852Abby Lee Miller, star of Dance Mom's is the ultimate tiger mom with heart and insight on how to employ tough-love to inspire children to achieve success. “If you want to help your kid reach the top, you can find no better coach than Abby Lee Miller. Some may criticize her methods,  but no one argues with her results. Her kids excel, (at what price)  her teams win and her alumni go on to Broadway careers,” reads the publisher’s description about her new book.IMG_7853

I was curious to meet Abby Lee too. After hearing the good the bad and the ugly  about Abby Lee from my daughter and her friends.  I wanted to meet AbbyLee in person, to see what she was really like. We  purchased tickets $75.00 each, which includes meet and greet, T-Shirt, introduction and photo. The pictures tell the story, but I will tell you my  personnel read on Abby LeeMiller. She looked fabulous, slimmed down, weight loss was well over 50 lbs. She was tanned and very friendly and a beautiful smile. We chatted a bit about parenting and kids. I liked her style, very direct, truthful and upfront. My daughter had her picture with Maddie Ziegler  and Mackenzie Ziegler the girls,  "put her feet together" she instructed . I think she has the knowledge, experience and the drive to push her "BRAND" to a new frontier. IMG_7851

HOWEVER as a mother I do have a problem with depersonalization of girls being depicted or treated as sexual objects. I was gobslapped watching the video of Maddie Ziegler in a cage. I know Abby Lee did not choreograph but still, uncomfortable to watch.

I am all for the arts and creativity, but  I do not like inappropriate imageries  imposed on girls through marketing or products directed at them that encourages them to act in adult sexual ways. Why, after the video "Elastic Heart" starring Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler, choreographed by Ryan Heffington. As a mother I am mad!  After the video was made & launched then everyone  saw the light and realized is was  wrong? They knew exactly what they were doing when making this video. The girls I know who love Dance Moms said this video was "uncomfortable  to watch, and who is the old guy?" The public has spoken, the kids like the dances and AbbyLee yelling at the mothers, the girls who watch do not want to see the sexualization of " Dance Moms"  girls.

 I found it shocking in my practice that so many married couples are not having sex.

I also read and have talked to women who have sex once a month or  One-third of moms have gone years without sex! on www.sheknows.com. SHOCKING!!

I know one women who can't stand her husband so she says, but still has sex with him for health reasons, To quote her "He's worth more alive then dead, the kids need a coach"

I know another women who refuses to have sex with her husband to the kitchen is remodel, joking or not "YIKES", oanother women who only will have sex when she is drunk! "Yikes"

 Whatever, but  I say take take the pledge and see the benefits, it can't hurt and will only help you.

We know that  touching and hugging can release your body's natural “feel-good hormone.” Sexual arousal releases a brain chemical that revs up your brain’s pleasure and makes you feel good about yourself and partner.
