HEADER

The average person uses 10-12 beauty products before they leave their home every morning.  Starting with shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, deodorant, gel, makeup and even more lotions and potions to be groomed in order to  feel good. This adds up to 500 chemicals daily one puts on their body that gets absorbed. Studies show that children are having puberty earlier, mens testosorin levels are down, and cancer on the  rise. The movement is to be healthier, be green, to be good to the environment  by using organic and natural beauty products. We are bombarded everyday with “noise” about how to look better, be healthier. Now is a time to rebuild and rethink what we are doing to reach a healthy balance.images

Throughout history  cosmetics have played a role in shaping  peoples lives. One drop at a time we can help ourselves and the environment.

*Buy products made in the USA, no animal testing

#2016 #Valentines Day #Recipe for falling in #LOVE ! xoxo

#2016 #Valentines Day #Recipe for #LOVE, that works!

IMG_7992As a Reiki Master, I know this to be true, but people always want scientific proof. I challenge you to try it. Doing, with the right intention is the most powerful aphrodisiac in life not only Valentines Day.
"Cooking with Love and Getting Results" is perfect for Valentines. I'm not sure if you ever heard of "THE Rice Experiment" or "What the Bleep do we know" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Bleep_Do_We_Know!%3F its very powerful and true. This experiment shows when food, water are treated with the right intention they flourish, when treated bad they die.  Most people agree that positive thinking has power, this would be a fun, informative and can only help.IMG_7991

"COOKING WITH LOVE and Getting RESULTS"

"Cooking with LOVE and getting Results" highlights the intention and integrity of good energy!
– Send love and good energy into the food while cooking, even play happy music.
-positive intentions make the food taste better, it translates in taste and feelings as you prepare, eat, digest.
-Engagement Chicken, perfect example, its a delicious lemon chicken. Has all the right stuff, lemon for detoxification,andprotein.http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Engagement-Chicken-364889
-healthy ingredients raise ones personal vibration to feel better
-love has such a powerful energy that it does effect the way people taste and digest food.
example KOBE beef, the animals are treated very humanly and the meat is better.IMG_7993

This is a example of intention when cooking.Engagement Chicken, every person should know, the recipe that started it all. And once you've made it, you'll know why. It serves up the kind of home-cooked goodness that no restaurant meal can top. The chicken's crispy skin is drenched in herb-infused juices (don't forget to pour the pan dripping back over the chicken before serving or, alternately, to drizzle them over individual pieces on the plate), and the trick of turning the chicken 15 minutes into cooking keeps the meet uniquely moist.

All sides will work with a main course this splendid. You can go with either white wine (in which case a Riesling would be nice) or red (try pinot noir). Positive & Happy cooking-and an even happier future to you and the lucky person you've deemed worthy of this dish.IMG_7990Cooking with love, good ingredients and happy thoughts always makes everything taste better. As a mother who loves to cook, I think we all know nothing tastes better then a home cooked meal.

13 MANNERS to review with our kids!

13 MANNERS to review with our kids! A refresher never hurts anyone! Parents  we need reminders too.

images-8

1. Say "please" and "thank you." The two benchmarks of good manners, but sadly lacking today, despite the fact that teaching kids to say them is a simple process of reminding them.

2. Make eye contact. Personal interaction requires some level of engagement, and unless there are special circumstances, eye contact is the bare minimum.images-9

3. Chew with their mouths closed. Nobody likes the site of chewed up food, and open mouths increase the chance of things falling out.

4. Don't interrupt. Unless it's an emergency (it usually isn't), kids need to learn patience and allow an interaction to continue.

5. Don't text at the table. Seemingly a no-brainer, I am constantly astounded by how much kids (and adults) check their phones during meals. I'm guilty, but trying not to do it!

6. Don't text during conversations. Nothing relays the message that you've got better things to do than checking your phone during a conversation.

7. Honor Privacy You don't have to read someone's diary to invade her privacy. In a world of reality TV and 24/7 social media, it's challenging to maintain a sense of privacy.

  • Knock on the door before entering a room.

  • Do not eavesdrop on others' conversations.

  • Don't spread gossip and rumors.

  • Don't share and forward the personal information (or photos) of others.

  • Do put an end to forwards that land in your lap. It stops here.

8. Learn to say "excuse me." Always appropriate when interrupting a situation or when releasing "gas."

9. Have integrity  "Honesty and integrity are at the very foundation of one's character," says Sena. Our children must learn how powerful their words are, and how using them wisely is at the core of good manners.

  • Tell the truth. "It's not always easier to tell the truth, but it's always better in the long run," says Nickell. "Our children should know that lying won't get them anywhere, and that honesty really is the best policy."

  • Stick to your word. "Teach the importance of following through and living by your word," says Nickell. "It's an essential part of life, and it's a lesson children can begin to learn at a young age." If you say you're going to do something, stick to it.

10.Respect your elders "Speak to adults respectfully and look them in the eye when they are speaking to you," says Liz Taylor, an etiquette consultant in Minneapolis. Refer to them as Mr. or Mrs. unless they tell you otherwise. (If you don't know their names, refer to them as sir or ma'am.) Politely offer them your seat or let them go before you (through a door, in a buffet line, or anywhere).

11. Lose gracefully. If you do your best, then it doesn't matter whether you win or lose. We can't win every game, so when you lose, be sure to thank your opponent, shake hands and say, "Well done!" or "Good job." No sore losers, please.Unknown-8

  • Maintain a positive attitude. Sports and games should emphasize building each other up, taking turns, playing as a team, working hard and striving to improve. By focusing on these positives, there will be fewer bad manners when there is a loss.

12. Acknowledge friends and acquaintances. A simple nod or smile is all it takes, versus ignoring them completely.

13. Eat your food, with mouth closed, just another reminder!

#Acupuncture Facelift, what is it and does it work?

#Acupuncture Facelift, what is it and does it work?  IMG_4859 Acupuncture Facelift, what is it and does it work?  I had to give it a try, its natural, no chemicals NO cutting, sound right up my alley, this type of facial facelift has been praised in VOGUE (http://www.vogue.com/871420/vd-maggie-betts-is-obsessed-facial-acupuncture) I sought out the best in the biz, her name is Darien Lamb, RN, LAC, MS she was highly recommended. When I first  met Darien,  I was impressed by her credentials, and institutional  knowledge, she treats the whole body, not just the face. I had my first appointment  at  Nicholas Day Spa, in Pelham NY http://nicholasdayspa.com she explained the treatment in detail, its natural way to help the aging process a cosmetic facial acupuncture is a healthy alternative to invasive Western medical injectable, fillers, and surgical procedures. it enhances muscle tone, strengthens and firms skin appearance, and improves overall health and well-being. The treatment takes 10 visits to see the full results, but I immediately felt the relaxation effects from day one, and saw the cosmetic results after the 3rd visit. The lines were softer and plumped.  This cosmetic facial acupuncture left me looking and feeling relaxed and glowing. It is an effective treatment for people of all ages. Western Medicine (WM) views cosmetic facial concerns like wrinkles, loss of muscle tone, sagging skin, and skin problems as the result of factors such as habitual muscle movement, aging, genetics, and climatic factors. Although Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) agrees with Western Medicine, more importantly, TCM believes that aging is directly influenced by physical, emotional, and spiritual health. As I relaxed on the table with acupuncture needles in my face and legs, I felt a deep relaxation come over my entire body, it was hypnotic. After a section I felt like I had just woke up from a nap.IMG_3263

Before the treatment I did have a comprehensive exam which included  questions concerning your digestion, sleep patterns, diet, stress level, family health history, and cosmetic concerns. The practitioner looks at the tongue, feel the pulse on your wrists, and possibly press or massage various body parts. She will inserted fine, sterilized acupuncture needles into specific acupuncture points on your face and body. The purpose of the treatment is to restore internal health to naturally lift, tone, and strengthen muscle integrity and skin. The result is healthy toned face muscles, tighter skin, reduced fine lines and wrinkles, refined skin, even skin color , and improved health and well-being. I love before and after pictures, check out these!IMG_5031IMG_5036

IMG_5038I highly recommend this treatment not only for beauty but for internal relaxation and all the health benefits that come with acupuncture. The three phases of perfectly applying self-tanner !

The three phases of perfectly applying self-tanner

To get that lovely summer glow even after summer ends (and without actually cooking your skin in the sun) all you need is a great self-tanner… and a little know-how. Avoid looking like a streaky escapee from Jersey Shore with these pointers from a dermatologist and a beauty expert. Ready to glow?

Choose wisely

1. Choose the solution that’s best for your skin type

Dermatologist David E. Bank, author of Beautiful Skin: Every Woman's Guide to Looking Her Best at Any Age and founder/director of The Center For Dermatology, Cosmetic & Laser Surgery in Mt. Kisco, New York, says that certain types of products are better for different skin types. If you have oily skin, he recommends light, non-greasy, noncomedogenic formulas. People with dry skin should get self-tanners with moisturizing ingredients; and for sensitive skin, it's best to use a mild, hypoallergenic formula.

2Match the self-tanner to your skin tone

Dr. Bank gives this simple advice: If you're fair skinned, go light; for olive skin, use a medium shade; and if you fall in the bronze/brown/dark zone, you can use a darker shade. Everyone should stay away from "extra dark" formulas, he says, which can leave skin looking too orange.

Prep well

3. Exfoliation is key, people

Dr. Bank recommends exfoliating in the shower using a washcloth, and then smoothing on moisturizer. You can also try exfoliating with a salt or sugar scrub, which is something beauty expert Cherie Corso recommends. She loves Hey Sugar, Lookin' Good. “It works great and it’s organic,” she says (Gillysorganics.com, $25).

Another great exfoliating tool is the Dermasuri Deep Exfoliating Mitt, which works to reveal new, smooth skin by sloughing off flaky, dead skin from the skin’s surface with the mitt’s unique fabric (Dermasuri.com, $20).

4. Wait 20 minutes after your shower before you apply self-tanner

Why? Dr. Bank says the heat in the shower causes your pores to dilate, which can make your tanner streak.

5. Prep your freckles and dark spots

If you have freckles or dark spots on your skin, Cherie recommends covering them up before you apply the self-tanner, so they don’t get darker. “You don't want to look like a spotted leopard,” she says. Fair point, Cherie. She recommends the multi-use G2 Organics Hickey Stick, a cover-stick with zinc and moisturizing ingredients. Dab it on freckles and moles before you apply your self-tanner. (Bonus: Cherie says it will cover and heal cuts and pimples, too!) (g2organics.com, $25).Unknown-6Unknown-3

6. Strategically moisturize

Cherie recommends prepping your heels, elbows and armpits with a little moisturizer, so those spots don’t get too dark.

Apply smart

7. Use surgical rubber gloves

You can get them at CVS or any drugstore, and you won’t have to worry about orange palms.

8. After you apply, use a blow dryer set on cool to dry your skin.

Cherie recommends staying naked for 15 to 20 minutes before you put your clothes back on.

9. If you made any mistakes…

You can take care of them with a Bronze Buffer! This self-tanner remover sponge gently wipes away streaks and splotches, even after the self-tanner has developed. You can also use it to lighten areas that got too dark, get between your toes and fingers and remove buildup on your knees and ankles. (Sephora, $10)

#MoMA PS1 #Volkswagen reach a worldwide audience including my #family!

Volkswagen, Partner of Culture and Arts MoMA PS1

Its so true the arts transcend people and places. The MoMA had to be one of the most glamorous and exciting places in NYC to be! I went with my daughter, to support the arts.  As a mother and On Air Parenting Expert, arts and my work  go hand and hand in our household, inspiration comes in so many forms and it pops out brings happiness to all areas of our life. The arts have so many benefits for adults and children, from reducing stress, to aid in real life problem solving, art education strengthens problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. The experience of making decisions and choices in the course of creating art carries over into other parts of our life. Art is a way of making things better! I love creating and the creatives of the world, as you can see me on the far left in pink having a great conversation about the beautiful event. The food, guests, the atmosphere were amazing.

For the next two years, the Volkswagen Group of America will be the lead sponsor of educational programming for the Museum of Modern Art, New York (MoMA), and will back major exhibitions including MoMA PS1’s survey of local artists, Greater New York, opening this autumn at the Queens museum.

Since 2011, the North American arm of the German carmaker Volkswagen has supported a number of special events and shows at both museums. Now, the collaboration will expand to cover further educational projects, particularly focusing on the museums’ digital learning initiatives, such as online courses and multimedia guides. The sponsorship deal will also include a series of talks to take place at MoMA and internationally, a curatorial training fellowship at MoMA PS1, and the extension of the Queens museum’s popular Sunday Sessions series of installations and performances, which took place in a distinctive temporary dome in its courtyard. MOMAPS1-20150625-7557

My friend is in the blue hat to the right!! "hi"

Volkswagen will also continue to sponsor exhibitions, including the survey show Greater New York 2015 (11 October-March 2016), which takes place every five years. Instead of focusing on emerging artists, however, this iteration will include more established artists and take a historic view of the city’s art scene. The curatorial team, led by MoMA PS1’s curator and associate director of exhibitions and programmes, Peter Eleey, includes the art historian Douglas Crimp, who organised the influential exhibition on the Pictures Generation of artists in the late 1970s; Thomas Lax, MoMA’s associate curator of media and performance art; and Mia Locks, the assistant curator at MoMA PS1.MOMAPS1-20150625-7463MOMAPS1-20150625-7497“Volkswagen is das auto, and MoMA is das museum,” says the chairman of the board of directors for Volkswagen Group of America, Martin Winterkorn, in a press release. “The renewal of our partnership is a reflection of our commitment to an internationally recognised art institution, and it demonstrates Volkswagen’s engagement in the fields of arts, education and social matters.”

A few easy ways to go green at home!

A few easy ways to go green at homeIMG_4439

Going green is an increasingly popular trend these days. Protecting our environment and staying healthy are important parts of our lives. Although everyone is reading/hearing about this craze, it seems that many are having trouble figuring out where to begin. Yes, recycling is a great way to start, but there are a number of easy ways you can make a difference in your own home

1. Grow and herb garden (good reminder of where our food comes from as well as one to stay away from processed food… dual function of serving environment and your self)

2. Switch all your light bulbs to CFLs

3. Stop using disposable shopping bags and invest in reusable ones, they can be found at any local food store

4. If you must buy water, buy an inexpensive reusable water bottle and stop buying the plastic ones. here in Westchester we have great water from the faucet

5. Always turn off the lights when you leave a room; try and wait as long as possible to even turn them on, natural sunlight is more enjoyable anyway

6. Turn off your computer completely at night

7. Pay as many bills as possible online

8. Wash your laundry in cold water instead of hot and then hang it to air dry

9. unplug unused chargers and appliances

10. Use cloth napkins and towels instead of paper ones

11. Switch to “shade grown coffee” with a “fair trade” label on it

12. Conserve water as much as possible! Try and shorten your showers, never leave the sink running when its not being used (aka when brushing your teeth), and fix all your leaky faucets!

Simple right? Its so easy it makes you wonder why everyone is not’t doing it. Put in the extra effort to make these small changes. Spread the word to your friends and family as well. Every little thing counts!
