So your kid wants to visit THE CAKE BOSS in Hoboken,NJ, Mom to Mom heres the scoop!!
THE Cake Boss!! Every kid seems to know who Buddy is, my daughter loves this show. She had me watch back to back to back episodes. Being a very visual person, I was mesmerized by the beautiful cakes and the family dynamics. I did a "reality show" so I am very familiar with the manipulation and stagged antics, but who cares. This show makes a beautiful product and I loved all the personalities in the bake shop. They are not mean spirited, and all have one goal to satisfy the customer and create. So when my daughter said she wanted to visit Carlos's Bakery, in Hoboken I was in. The only thing I honestly knew about Hoboken, NJ is that's where Frank Sinatra's from. There is no doubt people are big fans of TLC's "Cake Boss" show. , so the excursion to Hoboken , Carlo's Bakery — home of the "Cake Boss" began.
We took the ferry from NYC, SeaPort Authority and then walked to Carlo's City Hall Bake Shop, it was a long walk from the ferry to Carlos's bakery, we stopped for lunch along the way at one of the many restaurants they have along Washington Street.

Finally when we go there, I thought we could just walk in, and for some reason crazy thought we would see Buddy, get a tour, something..but when we arrived we were shocked SHOCKED to see a line across the street in front of CVS. A man from the bakery came out and handed us a number, I don't like to wait in lines (who does on a hot day) but for my daughter we waited one hour. I have to say it was not that bad waiting, we met people from all over the world who wanted to visit. I met a women from Finland and she knew all the episodes and said that this was on her to do list when she was visiting NYC. On line the anticipation started to build, as crazy as that sound to taste this cake!! When our number was called, we went into the small store front bakery, packed with people buying cookies, cakes. T-shirts, autographed mugs, DVD's.
No tour, No Buddy, No sisters just very nice people taking your order. We bought it all the cake, T-shirts, Mug, cookies (which were excellent). My daughter wanted the beach cake with the surf boards and brown sugar sand. It was one layer chocolate filled with fudge and the bottom layer vanilla. The cake was moist and very flavorful, it cost $50.00 for a small cake…eeekkkk but her it was part of the experience. It was a full day event and IM glad we did it. Since then I have learned if you just want a Cake Boss cake, there is a store in Time Square, and supper markets carry them.
My advice would be to go very early in the morning, or near the end of the day the line will be less, also buy extra cookies because when you get home everyone wants to sample. I also hear that Buddy Valastro does visit occasionally but don't expect to meet him then the kids won't be disappointed.

At the Strut fashion show in Lincoln Center last night , during NYC fashion week Knicks player Amar'e Stoudemire showed up to support his family at the STRUT for a cause show for stylish MOM's by Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein.
During the fashion show Knicks player started to sing to "Blurred Line" by Robin Thicke, I watched him as he sang along. Is music his next career after basketball? IM not one to spread roumers but when, "We Can't Stop" played by Miley Cyrus stared he lost his mojo and went back to looking like professional basketball player and DAD,so I'm guessing that he saw her performance at the VMAS, like my Mom and DAD and was not happy about her performance. Anyway he liked the show, high fived and was very friendly to everyone who wanted pics. Now let's get real look at what he was wearing, ok he was rocking those shades he was wearing, black dark sunglasses he was cool, he had a blonde streak in his hair. I liked his style, it was cool. He was proud of his family like my Dad is of me!

What is Reiki? and Why Quart

The word Reiki is derived from two Japanese words: rei meaning Universal Spirit and ki meaning life force energy. In Reiki, hands are the channels for energy (ki) guided by the Universal Spirit (Rei). Mystics of all cultures speak of the physical universe being made of an underlying form of energy which is subject to or affected by thought.
Reiki is a flexible, ever-evolving form of healing, relaxation and personal development. Practicing Reiki helps bring about harmony in the body, leading to a deep sense of relaxation. As well as having this wonderfully calming affect on the healee, the person giving a Reiki treatment also receives the healing effect of the Universal energy that flows through them. Many hospitals and Doctors use Reiki healers in conduction with traditional medicines.
This is said to be an intelligent energy in that it seems to know where to go for healing to take place and what is needed. It never does any harm. The energy does not come from the Reiki practitioner. The practitioner is a channel for the healing energy.
Some benefits of Reiki include:
- a balancing of physical/mental/emotional and spiritual energies
- enhanced personal awareness; reiki increases inner peace and mental clarity/emotional stability
- improved creativity
- suppressed feelings are released
- a reduction of stress and tension and pain relief

- Reiki can therefore be used for many reasons including reducing stress or tension, relieving pain, headaches, back problems, respiratory problems, PMT, menstrual problems and more. Reiki should be used to compliment traditional medicine and not as an alternative.
It is a gentle non-invasive method of healing. Through Reiki, practitioners can also develop personal and spiritual growth.
The Differences between Reiki and Spiritual Healing
Reiki draws on the Universal spirit to heal however there are differences between Reiki and other methods of healing such as spiritual healing. Through Reiki, energy is channelled by an attuned person to empower the healee to cure themselves. The healer acts as a channel for the energy normally without being drained themselves. A spiritual healer is a person said to be gifted in the powers of healing who will channel energy to bring about a cure. Spiritual healers believe themselves to be vulnerable to other influences/entities and to picking up problems from the person they're working on when they open themselves to the energy. They take steps to protect themselves against this. Reiki attunement seems to protect and prevent Reiki practitioners from picking up any negative influences from the healee.
There are several different forms of Reiki. As knowledge is passed down from Master to student, students have developed and passed on their own understanding and individual methods. Even so the basic concept of channelling Universal energy is common to them all.
Different symbols are used in each Reiki practice. Some practitioners are trained in and use more than one form of Reiki. Each method has its place in healing.
Reiki is guided by the Universal Spirit/energy that sustains and balances all life on this planet. It is an intelligent energy of love and wholeness.

Hugh Jackman Delivers in The Wolverine and more!!
I just love going to the movies, I love the shared experience with my family and being in a theater, AMC Loews 34th Street 14 – New York, New York 10001 – AMC Theatresespecially if its a thrilling movie, I love the 3D, the smell of popcorn,the big screen, going to the theater, finding a seat, putting on my 3D glasses and being transported. I know today the home experience is so good, on your comfortable couch, with snacks, the family and the dog on your lap. It's sometimes hard to justify the time ,effort and expense, to go to the movies, but trust me this movie is worth it. The Wolverine | Official Movie Site | View Trailers | NOW PLAYING The action scenes had us screaming and cheering in and out of our seats. Hugh Jackman was exciting, his true energy and high frequency jumped off the screen. He humanizes, a comic character. If your not familiar with the comic, you will still enjoy this movie. This does have , blood, a little swearing in the right places and a great story line. I liked the message about Karma and repaying debts and that sometimes things aren't as they appear and people have different motives. I think this can open up conversation with your children in a exciting current way. In the movie the car of choice was the Audi The Wolverine Teams Up With Audi For Promotional Content | Comicbook.com , I am in love with this car. The cars World Class reputation delivered! The chauffeured Audi picked us up and drove us around all day. We went to lunch and shopped on Madison Ave, as the car waited for us outside. Okay as a NewYorker, we see it all and are so use to seeing beautiful cars that most people don't even notice. I have to tell you my experience, everywhere we went in this car, heads were turned people even snapped pictures. We felt like movie stars, this car Audi delivered the whole experience. The performance of this car on the open road was far superior then my car. I personally would love to buy this car.
The Wolverine, 2013 American-Australian superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Wolverine, starring my favorite Hugh Jackman. I think this movies one is the best, he brings a adrenalin filled performance that we viewed on the AMC Empire 25 3D theater was thrilling to watch, the claws, even the fashion Viper wore had me reeling. I will be sporting the black leather gloves with gold studs at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2014.
Okay now lets get to the good part as promised," what Hugh Jackman was really like in person?" The Mamarazzi event hosted by The MOMS Denise Albert and Melissa Musen Gerstein delivered him right to the theater (thanks girls). Security was tight, cameras filming. People snapping pictures. I was so lucky with a random seat I picked, he brushed right by me. He was tall and muscular, smelled very "clean" not heavily cologne, his energy was positive. I did my quick "energy Chakra scan", on him. I felt heat coming from his shoulders, I could tell he had a lot on his mind, he is a thinker, very smart. He handled the media and fans with grace and had a humble confidence. A genuine nice guy, a hard worker, family man. He talked about his family and not being away from them more then two weeks. I liked that. My daughter could not wait to ask him a question. She was brought to the front.
She asked "Would you ever like to be Wolverine?" He answered and said "sometimes!" He said he can get grumpy like anyone, and likes the power of the claws, all he does is have to show the claws. Timothy Cardinal Dolan says the conciliatory comments by Pope Francis toward gays do not signal a change in Catholic Church doctrine on homosexuality.
The head of the New York Archdiocese, speaking Tuesday on "CBS This Morning," praised the new pope for the "beautifully tender way" that he spoke about the issue one day earlier.

But Dolan made it clear that the church's position regarding homosexuality as a sin has not changed.
"Pope Francis would be the first to say, 'My job isn't to change church teaching. My job is to present it as clearly as possible,'" Dolan said.

"While certain acts may be wrong … we will always love and respect the person and treat the person with dignity."
Dolan specifically reiterated the church's teaching on same-sex relationships, noting "the immorality, in God's view, of any sexual expression outside of a man and a woman in lifelong marriage."

On Monday, the pope caused an international stir with his comments on homosexuality.
"If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?" the pope said. "They shouldn't be marginalized."

After addressing the pope's remark, Dolan turned his attention to the local mayoral race – and serial cyber-flasher Anthony Weiner.
"I don't want to judge anybody," Dolan said. "I think redemption is always possible, and always God's preference."
