HEADER

The average person uses 10-12 beauty products before they leave their home every morning.  Starting with shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, deodorant, gel, makeup and even more lotions and potions to be groomed in order to  feel good. This adds up to 500 chemicals daily one puts on their body that gets absorbed. Studies show that children are having puberty earlier, mens testosorin levels are down, and cancer on the  rise. The movement is to be healthier, be green, to be good to the environment  by using organic and natural beauty products. We are bombarded everyday with “noise” about how to look better, be healthier. Now is a time to rebuild and rethink what we are doing to reach a healthy balance.images

Throughout history  cosmetics have played a role in shaping  peoples lives. One drop at a time we can help ourselves and the environment.

*Buy products made in the USA, no animal testing

*create your own facial, Cleopatra used honey, milk and  botanicals oils.

*read the labels, if it has to many ingredients and chemicals take a pass

13 MANNERS to review with our kids!

13 MANNERS to review with our kids! A refresher never hurts anyone! Parents  we need reminders too.

images-8

1. Say "please" and "thank you." The two benchmarks of good manners, but sadly lacking today, despite the fact that teaching kids to say them is a simple process of reminding them.

2. Make eye contact. Personal interaction requires some level of engagement, and unless there are special circumstances, eye contact is the bare minimum.images-9

3. Chew with their mouths closed. Nobody likes the site of chewed up food, and open mouths increase the chance of things falling out.

4. Don't interrupt. Unless it's an emergency (it usually isn't), kids need to learn patience and allow an interaction to continue.

5. Don't text at the table. Seemingly a no-brainer, I am constantly astounded by how much kids (and adults) check their phones during meals. I'm guilty, but trying not to do it!

6. Don't text during conversations. Nothing relays the message that you've got better things to do than checking your phone during a conversation.

7. Honor Privacy You don't have to read someone's diary to invade her privacy. In a world of reality TV and 24/7 social media, it's challenging to maintain a sense of privacy.

  • Knock on the door before entering a room.

  • Do not eavesdrop on others' conversations.

  • Don't spread gossip and rumors.

  • Don't share and forward the personal information (or photos) of others.

  • Do put an end to forwards that land in your lap. It stops here.

8. Learn to say "excuse me." Always appropriate when interrupting a situation or when releasing "gas."

9. Have integrity  "Honesty and integrity are at the very foundation of one's character," says Sena. Our children must learn how powerful their words are, and how using them wisely is at the core of good manners.

  • Tell the truth. "It's not always easier to tell the truth, but it's always better in the long run," says Nickell. "Our children should know that lying won't get them anywhere, and that honesty really is the best policy."

  • Stick to your word. "Teach the importance of following through and living by your word," says Nickell. "It's an essential part of life, and it's a lesson children can begin to learn at a young age." If you say you're going to do something, stick to it.

10.Respect your elders "Speak to adults respectfully and look them in the eye when they are speaking to you," says Liz Taylor, an etiquette consultant in Minneapolis. Refer to them as Mr. or Mrs. unless they tell you otherwise. (If you don't know their names, refer to them as sir or ma'am.) Politely offer them your seat or let them go before you (through a door, in a buffet line, or anywhere).

11. Lose gracefully. If you do your best, then it doesn't matter whether you win or lose. We can't win every game, so when you lose, be sure to thank your opponent, shake hands and say, "Well done!" or "Good job." No sore losers, please.Unknown-8

  • Maintain a positive attitude. Sports and games should emphasize building each other up, taking turns, playing as a team, working hard and striving to improve. By focusing on these positives, there will be fewer bad manners when there is a loss.

12. Acknowledge friends and acquaintances. A simple nod or smile is all it takes, versus ignoring them completely.

13. Eat your food, with mouth closed, just another reminder!

G2 ORGANICS HICKEY STICK – AN AMAZING HEAVY DUTY CONCEALER!and HEALER!

G2 ORGANICS HICKEY STICK – AN AMAZING HEAVY DUTY CONCEALER!

Hi folks, today I wanted to share with you a product that I was sent from G2 Organics to try out. It's the Hickey Stick. I've used a lot of concealers in my day, and I have to say- I think this will be replacing my current #1- Make Up For Ever Full Cover. In the past, I've also used NARS and MAC Studio concealers.
My current skin treatments have greatly lightened my scars, but there was a time with I had really dark acne marks. I wish I had something as good as this in my arsenal! This two step full coverage concealer really works wonders.

The first step is a yellow toned step. I used a clean finger tip to gently apply it onto primed skin. The heat from my fingers helped spread it evenly. I then used a small concealer brush to pat in the second beige colored step. Patting keeps first layer from smearing and helped blend it evenly into the surrounding skin. I then lightly applied my foundation and set it with powder.

From the G2 Organics website:

• Made using organic and natural ingredients. A non-toxic product
• A unisex concealer – perfect for men and women
• Covers blemishes, scars, pimples and yes, embarrassing hickey’s!
• Ingredients includes Vitamin E to heal
• Works well with all skin tones – from light to dark. The two shades are blended together, to create the perfect match for your complexion.
• Reiki charged for good energy!
The coverage is phenomenal. Since it does such a good job concealing, I've had to use drastically less foundation. About 1/2 the amount I usually apply to my face. Check out how it can even cover the burn scar on my wrist.

I only have two minor gripes with this product. It comes in only light and dark. Though I wear concealer under my foundation, I know that others don't and with that limited color range, it may be hard to find a match. If you buy both sets of Hickey Sticks to blend the two shades, it would be pretty costly. I was lucky that it nearly matched my skin but others might not be so lucky. The one other issue is that it is oil based, so heat and excess oil production can cause the layers of concealer to move if you are not careful. I highly recommend gentle blotting and a silica based powder to gently set your face makeup!

All in all? A really superb concentrated concealer that I wish I had back in the days of my pizza face acne days. It really would have made such a difference! I'm really more impressed than I thought I would be.

G2 Organics Hickey Stick is $24.95 and can be purchased HERE at the G2 Organics Shop.

Product featured was sent to me for review. For additional information, please refer to

Raising awareness for pediatric cancer Parents with HYUNDAI HOPE ON WHEELS WITH ROCSI DIAZ

THE MOMS helping HYUNDAI HOPE ON WHEELS WITH ROCSI DIAZ

I'm not going to lie to you, I hate writing this blog, I hate cancer, I hate seeing children suffer, I hate what these families have to go through. One child diagnosed with cancer is just one too many! It's never about "I" when dealing with children, its about what can we do to help. Did you know that 15,000 kids are diagnosed with pediatric cancer and that cancer is the leading cause of death in children? Today The MOMS hosted a luncheon with Rocsi Diaz and Hyundai’s Hope On Wheels at The Warwick Hotel in NYC to help raise awareness for pediatric cancer.#HopeOnWheels #EndChildhoodCancerIMG_0452IMG_0476

The comapnay was great, the parents were amazing telling their personal stories, their courage and strenght inspired everyone. The children with cancer and in recovery were joyful and had hope in their eyes. They smiled posed for pictures, and had great energy.

I'm no stranger to cancer and the effects it has on families, I even created a line of non toxic beauty products called G2 Organics because I believe a lot of cancer comes from beauty the products we use and the toxic build up in our system, a portion of my sales goes toward helping with cancer, www.g2organics.com  I think we all play a role in helping find a cure HYUNDAI HOPE ON WHEELS, has donated over $100,00 million toward the cause.

“Childhood cancer is an important issue that should command more attention,” said Rocsi Diaz. “I’m proud to participate in Hyundai Hope On Wheel’s launch activities. I’m moved that Hyundai has been helping kids fight cancer for 17 years and I’m delighted to share that this year they will surpass $100 million in funding groundbreaking research aimed at finding a cure because one child fighting cancer is one child too many.”

Hyundai Hope On Wheels will carry on its “Just One Wish” campaign theme from last year. This theme is designed to convey the mission of the organization to end childhood cancer. The campaign connects thousands of families affected by the disease via social media. Parents who visit the Hyundai Hope On Wheels website and social media channels can join the effort by posting a photo of their child and sharing their own stories of courage and hope. The goal of the Just One Wish campaign is to show the collective wish of a cure for pediatric cancer. Families can join the effort by visiting the Hope On Wheels website under the section “we win together” or by posting a photo on social media @HopeOnWheels, using hashtags #EndChildhoodCancer and #HopeOnWheels.

“Where ya from?” Family outing go to NYC Tenement Museum then walk to the original Benito One in the heart of Little Italy

What? Kids drink beer, women threw bricks in butchers window when they raised the prices. Yes learn all about the history of the tenements and how it all started. We loved it, it was our second visit and the impact it made on the kids and myself is a great experience. I think its a eye opener when your actually sitting in the space where it all happened. This is something you can read about but going through the process makes it real and has the impact on you and your kids. http://www.tenement.org/tours.php
